Will System Shock Wow FPS Fans Once Again?

System Shock is one of those games that really wowed people back in 1994, the sequel, System Shock 2 which was released in 1999 is regarded as one of the best FPS games of all time. BioShock is seen by many as the spiritual successor to System Shock and System Shock 2 has sold a ton more copies since being available on Steam. One interesting thing is that physical copies of System Shock 2 are now really high in demand and go for top dollar.

So why all this talk today about System Shock? That is because in 2018 there is a remake of the first System Shock game coming to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4! Night Dive Studios is the team behind the game and originally it was to be called System Shock Remastered, but over the last few months, they have dropped the Remastered part of the name as they are saying that while many (us included) have classed this as a remastering. It is actually more of a reboot for the series.

We have seen the trailers and it looks fantastic, with them saying that it is a reboot rather than a remake, we are very interested to see how the story unfolds in System Shock 2018. We have a feeling that the folks at Night Dive Studios are going to change things up and bit and have a bit of a new narrative going forward, which if the game sells well enough could end up with a System Shock 2 reboot/remake as well.

While there is not a ton of details on this yet, we feel with the right kind of backing, System Shock 2018 could be one of next year’s biggest hits when it comes to first person shooters.

Call Of Duty WWII Armored Division Guide

Call Of Duty WWII Armored Division Guide

While at first glance the Division system in Call Of Duty WWII looks completely different to the class system we have all gotten used to the last decade. It is actually pretty similar. Today we are looking at the Armored Division and letting you know how to get the best out of it.

Armored Division is one of the most interesting Divisions in the game. At first glance, you think this is the tank class and it actually is. Making use of rocket launchers and badass machine guns make this a class that can do some very, very heavy damage in the right hands.

The Armored Division though, while extremely offensive can actually be a huge defensive ally to any team. You see they can use bipods to set up defenses and they can even use tripods so that they can position themselves with their machine gun to get less recoil. The basic loadout of an MG15, bazooka and sticky bombs is going to cause a real loud bang.

One of the ways (once you are leveled up enough of course) that you can get the best out of the Armored Division in Call Of Duty WWII is to take the time to set up a defensive perimeter first and then go on your rampage. We do not think that this is the class that is best suited for beginners, but at the same time once you get the hang of it, we would say that Armored Division is one of the most fun classes in the entire game as the weapons are so big and powerful, it is impossible not to have fun when using them.

Will Battalion 1944 Be 2018’s Stand Out FPS?

Will Battalion 1944 Be 2018’s Stand Out FPS?

While here at Mods “R” Us, we are having a blast with Call Of Duty WWII, Destiny 2 and even dabbling in a little Battlefront 2. We have an eye on next year and so far not a ton of first person shooters have been announced, but one we have kept a very close eye on is Battalion 1944.

If the name sounds familiar, it is because it was a highly publicized Kickstarter game, do not freak out or worry, it was funded in just a few days. While this is a new company making the game, the majority of the team have worked on AAA titles in the past.

What we know so far about Battalion 1944 is that it is going to be an online game that focusses on 5 vs 5 matches. The team wants to keep this as old school as possible so from what they have said it seems like there is no cheating, pay to win or anything like that. The term they use is “raw skill” and that sounds very interesting to us. It sounds rather bare bones at the moment, but we think that is part of the appeal of this game. It is stripping away much of the garbage that has been added to first person shooters over the last decade and is going for something that is more simple, straightforward and fun.

Early access for Battalion 1944 is coming in early 2018 and the game is going to be available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is well worth keeping a closer eye on if you love old school first person shooters.
