The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Gta 3
The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 4

Today we are once again locking and loading and getting ready to cause all kinds of destruction as we continue our Grand Theft Auto retrospective.

Grand Theft Auto 3 (2001,2002,2003) PlayStation 2, PC, Xbox

Grand Theft Auto 3 was a game changer for the GTA series and in gaming in general. The people at RockStar created an absolute monster in Grand Theft Auto 3 and while the PlayStation 2 was already a huge seller. GTA 3 for many people was the game that made them decide to take the plunge and pick up a PlayStation 2.

Grand Theft Auto 3 had a story where you played as a criminal called Claude, a man who was done wrong and now he wants revenge. As the first 3D GTA game, the story was not as in depth as it would later become. But there was enough of a story to keep you invested in the game.

It was the gameplay though that really blew people away. Grand Theft Auto 3 is an open world 3D game which at the time had not been seen on a console in this kind of scope (if even at all) you could pretty much just do whatever the heck you wanted and at the time this was something that was incredibly fresh and new. It offered so much freedom and gamers would spend more time going on killing sprees, stealing cars and just seeing all they could see in this massive world than they would actually playing the story!

Grand Theft Auto 3 was a huge hit on the PlayStation 2. It would be released on PC a year later in 2002 and then in 2003 a Grand Theft Auto collection would be released on Xbox that contained this and Grand Theft Auto Vice City.

GTA The Ballad Of Gay Tony | Xbox 360 | Ps3 | Pc

GTA The Ballad Of Gay Tony

We are glamming things up a bit today as we look at another fantastic entry in the Grand Theft Auto series!

Grand Theft Auto The Ballad Of Gay Tony (2009/10) Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC

The Ballad Of Gay Tony was the final GTA IV expansion pack and the third Grand Theft Auto release in 2009! First released on Xbox 360, The Ballad Of Gay Tony would be released on PC and PlayStation 3 the following year.

This is regarded as one of the best entries in the GTA series. This expansion sees you playing the role of Luis Fernando Lopez who is the personal bodyguard to the flamboyant, Gay Tony who is the owner of the largest nightclubs in Liberty City and also a socialite, overcome the obstacles in his life ranging from drug deals and contracts on his life. The story is just fantastic and has much more glitz and glamour than GTA IV and the Lost And The Damned. Gay Tony was already one of the more memorable characters from GTA IV so seeing him get a more starring role was a lot of fun.

Gameplay was as you would expect, but they added a scoring system for missions as well as lots of new side jobs you could take such as entering a fighting competition, dealing drugs and dealing with club management to name a few. While the game was around the same length as The Lost And The Damned, it felt like there was much more to do here.

The Ballad Of Gay Tony was greeted with worldwide acclaim. Everyone loved the story and it would be the most popular of all the GTA DLC. It is worth noting that this along with The Lost And The Damned would be released together as the “Episodes From Liberty City” bundle that let you play both stories without the need for a Grand Theft Auto IV disc.
